Hi folks. i am back again. Ok its been so long that all my three readers would have forgotten me but boy has life in the hospital become hectic. we opened a new icu i started learning how to treat patients(stop asking what i was doing all these days, its a learning curve) and most importantly i found out a sick doctor does not inspire trust. how did i learn this valuable life lesson. in the most embrassing manner.
It was a rather lazy sunday evening and the whole family had cozied up for a nice time. at the perfect moment karma struck and the phone rang. A call for my uncle who is an on call doctor at our hospital(house and hospital are attached). So now my uncle is this experienced practioner whose pt trust him so much that just reading his prescriptions cures them. A very hard working professional the amazing cold weather got to him that day though and he asked me to cover for him.
So i go to the hospital and do the whole checking patient part and prescribing drugs and reassuring them their cough is not lung cancer and return home in a sefl satisfied manner. I come up all confidently ready to tell the family how i sucessfully trated the common cold(not treatable in case you have misconceptions) when i hear my uncle on the phone. the pt(the ass that she was) an old regular pt of my uncles had called up to confirm my prescription and i could over hear(in a very confidence dashing voice) " i just wanted to check up doctor because the other person(not doctor mind you) who checked me was sneezing so much that i wondered if the medicines he gives will work". just for a little side info. i suffer from allergic rhinitis which in simple language means if my nose dont like something i sneeze a lot and THIS TAKES ONE DAY TO SETTLE IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MEDICINE OR DOCTOR TREATING IT. and this dear doubting thomas of a lady assumed just cause i was sneezing i was not fit to treat a sneeze. Honestly the thinking of our ppl is miserable. but that cant be changed so il simpy pity the cardiologist with a heartattack, the proctologist with piles and the gynacologist who gets pregnant(honestly guys have an edge here), and decide resolutely that no matter how sick the sick are dont treat when your sick. So long since i have written that i myself have lost track of what i wrote. anyways catch you next time folks
